Who we are

The African Stockbrokers and Securities Dealers Association (ASSDA) was officially formed on the 26th on November 2019, in Kasane Botswana when six African stockbroking associations signed a Memorandum of Understanding establishing the Association.

The MOU was a culmination of discussions between the national associations engaged in stockbroking and securities dealing from the founding member countries of Egypt, Kenya, Mauritius, Morocco, Nigeria, and the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) countries.

These countries are also on the African Exchanges Linkage Project (AELP) which is a co-initiative by the African Securities Exchanges Association (ASEA) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) to enable and facilitate cross-border trading and settlement of securities across participating exchanges in Africa. The goal is to boost Pan-African investment flows, promote innovations that support diversification needs of investors in Africa, and help address the lack of depth and liquidity in Africa’s financial markets.
